Trichogramma brassicae – Natural Moth Control for Crops

What It Does:
Trichogramma brassicae is ideal for controlling moths (Lepidoptera) on cole crops in cooler climates, especially where caterpillar and borer damage is common.

How It Works:

  • Trichogramma wasps lay their eggs inside pest moth eggs, preventing development.
  • After 10 days, larvae emerge, and each female can parasitize up to 300 moth eggs.
  • Adult wasps live 7-14 days depending on temperature and moisture.

Best Conditions:

  • Temperature: 62-90°F

Controlled Release

Trichogramma wasps are gradually released over 2 weeks from dispensers or capsules, providing ongoing pest control. Choose the release method based on your preference.

  • Shields from pests (e.g., ants)
  • Water-resistant
